The Mystical Union for Methectic Sonority (MUMS) is a student group dedicated to bringing participatory social singing of aesthetic and contemplative quality to the University of Toronto campus. With an emphasis on traditions of sacred music centered on the unaccompanied human voice like Byzantine chant and Sacred Harp singing, while also drawing on varieties of folk music in multiple languages, MUMS will cultivate fellowship through harmony. Aside from regular practice singings and ballad circles, they intend to sponsor singing schools, demonstration singings, and other special events to enrich the cultural life of the campus community.
